David Porter Whittaker
Blanchard State Line Herald, July 31: the body of Port Whittaker was
brought here for burial last Monday from Loveland, Colo. where for the last few
months he had been making his home with his sister, Mrs. W. A. Booton.
David Porter Whittaker was born in Ohio, June 23, 1845. While a small chil
he moved with his parents to Illinois and in 1868 the family came to Iowa ,
settling in Page county on the farm now owned by R. A. Cabeen. In the early 70�
he was married to Miss Jennie McMahon , who died about thirty years ago. About
1896 he left this vicinity, going first to South Dakota and after leaving there
has spent the greater part of the time with his nephews near Blue Springs. Nebr
He spent a couple of summers with his brother, Lee, in Wilcox Saskatchewan,
Canada. Since May of this year he has been in Loveland, Colo.
While not robust, he had been in fairly good health until about two weeks
ago, when he was taken to a hospital in Loveland, where he died on Thursday,
July 24.
Funeral services were held at Loveland Friday afternoon, and the body was
shipped here for burial, interment delayed until the arrival of his brother,
Lee, from Madison, Saskatchewan, Canada. Short services were held at the
cemetery Tuesday morning conducted by Rev. W. E. Hardaway.
His brother Lee, of Madison Saskatchewan, Canada was the only one of the
three surviving members of his family present, his sister , Mrs. W. A. Booton,
of Loveland, Colo., being unable to attend, and the only other brother, George,
of Santa Monica Calif. being too far away. Mrs. Rhodus Hannah of Blanchard is a
niece.

Francis M. MCMAHON [Parents] was born on 26 Mar 1836 in Adams County Ohi. He died on 25 Dec 1910 in Colorado Springs,El Paso County,Colorado. He married Martha Evaline WRIGHT on 2 Feb 1859 in Elvaston,Hancock County,Illinois.

Francis M. McMahon

Francis M. McMahon was born March 26th, 1836, in Adams County, Ohio, and
died December 25th, 1910, at his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado, aged 74
years, 8 months and 29 days. He was married to Miss Martha Wright at Elvaston,
Ill., in the year of 1859. In 1863 he enlisted in the civil war, going out with
the 78th Ill. Volunteers. He was wounded at the battle of Chicamaugua, losing
his right arm at the shoulder. In 1866 he moved with his family to Page county,
Iowa, locating on a farm east of College Springs where they continued to reside
until about fifteen years ago when they moved to Colorado.

The remains were brought to College Springs, yesterday, accompanied by the
wife, two daughters and two sons. Short funeral services were conducted at the
grave by Rev. J.P. Nesbit and Pres. R. A. McConagha, and the body laid to rest
in the family burying ground.

Mr. McMahon had been a member of the U.P. church for over fifty years. He
was a kind and loving husband and father, a good neighbor and a loyal citizen.
He leaves a wife, five sons and two daughters, besides other relatives, to mour
their loss. Two of his brothers, John of Elmo and Luther of this place, were
present at the funeral.

Martha Evaline WRIGHT was born on 21 Sep 1840 in Adams Co,Oh. She died on 12 Jun 1930 in Port Angeles,Wa. She married Francis M. MCMAHON on 2 Feb 1859 in Elvaston,Hancock County,Illinois.

Obituary - Robert L. McMahan
Robert L. McMahan was born in Adams Co., Ohio, July 26, 1844. At the age of 7
years he with his parents moved to Hancock Co., Illinois, and settled on a farm
until he answered his country's call. He enlisted in Co.C, 118 III Inf, After
serving 3 months he was discharged and returned to his Illinois home. In 1869
with his parents came to Page County, Iowa and has resided near this vicinity
ever since. In 1876 he was united in marriage to Mary M. Huntsman. To this
union were born 5 children, Rolla Seth who died 1886; Maude E. died 1922;
Leonard C. now residing in Monroe, Washington; Karl R., Portland, Oregon; Anna
Crain I iving on a farm near this city. After a short Illness he passed away
Nov 22, 1928, having reached the age of 84 years, 3 months and 26 days. He
leaves a loving wife, three children, seven grandchildren and one great
grandson, as well as a host of friends to mourn his loss. Mr. McMahan was
familiarly known as "Uncle Luth". Funeral services were held Saturday afternoo
at 2 o'clock from the Braddyville Methodist church conducted by Rev. Faye
Merriott, local minister. Burial in Braddyville cemetery.

Mary Matilda HUNTSMAN was born on 25 Jan 1860 in Alexandria,Scotland County,Missouri. She died in Feb 1941 in Clarinda,Page County,Iowa. She married Robert Luther MCMAHON on 2 Nov 1876.

William Finney

William Albert Finney, 87, a native of Ohio, was a resident of Page county
through his young manhood on the Finney farm three miles east of College Spring
from 1880 to 1901. His three children were born in Page county. He lived in
California 49 years and died January 6, 1950 at the home of his youngest
daughter in Garden Grove, Calif.

He is survived by his wife, Lydia A. Finney and one son, Harry A. Finney o
Hinckley, Calif., two daughters, Mrs. Emma G. King of Los Angeles, and Mrs.
Daisy Stimpson of Garden Grove; two sisters, Miss Venna Finney and Miss Grace E
Finney, both of Los Angeles; six grandchildren and four great granddaughters.

He was a member of the Union Bible church of Hinkley, Calif, whose pastor
Rev. Bertam Youde conducted the funeral services at the Friends church, Garden
Grove, at 2 p m Monday, Jan 9. Mr Finney was one of the first to contribute to
the Friends church and although in failing in health and not able to attend
regularly, he kept up his contributions until the last.

Burial was in Rose Hills Memorial park near Whittier. The grandsons were
pallbearers.
